Lisa Montgomery, 52, was put to death by lethal injection at 1:31 AM Wednesday after the US Supreme Court lifted her last minute stay of execution.
Lisa Montgomery, Corey Johnson and Dustin Higgs are to be put to death this week. Montgomery is scheduled for Tuesday, Johnson for Thursday and Higgs for Friday. There is a massive outcry among Americans for different reasons: the legality of these sentences, the risk of COVID-19 and the humanity of the lethal injection.
Lisa Montgomery was scheduled to be executed on December 8, 2020. However, her two lawyers caught COVID-19 and the execution was pushed to a later date, possibly into the start of President-elect Joseph Biden’s presidency.
On Tuesday, police in Greece, New York announced that they have arrested two suspects in the murder of 39-year-old Otillia Piros. Piros’ daughter, 17-year-old Hannah Thomas, and her boyfriend, 16-year-old Richard Avila, are each facing charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Two executioners are on the run after kidnapping, tying up, torturing and fatally shooting two truckers in Opa-locka, Florida this weekend.
