Dustin Wakefield, 21 died while shielding his 1 year old son from a suspect’s bullets.
According to the Miami Herald, Wakefield was vacationing with his wife and young son. On Tuesday August 24th, the family was enjoying dinner at Cerveceria restaurant when a masked man entered the patio-area of the restaurant. The assailant pointed the gun at Wakefield’s son. The victim stepped in front of his son to shield him. Wakefield was then shot multiple times.
WSN 7 News shared a cellphone video of the suspect being arrested following the crime. 22 year old Tamarius Blair Davis, Jr. was arrested in an alley near Cerveceria restaurant. The suspect was filmed screaming and confessing to the murder. Wakefield was reportedly high on mushrooms and claims that was what encouraged him to commit the murder.
CBS Miami reports that Dustin Wakefield’s body has been returned to his hometown, Castle Rock, Colorado as of August 30th.
