Liam Husted, 7, a California boy, was last seen on May 28 by his mother, Samantha Moreno Rodriguez, 35.
Nearly months later, Liam’s body was found on a hiking trail outside of Las Vegas. Liam had been strangled to death.
Before Liam’s disappearance, both the mother and son had left their San Jose, California home on May 24. Both had been seen inside a 2007 dark blue Dodge Caliber.
According to the Review-Journal, Clark County Deputy District Attorney John Giordani said on June 30, “[Rodriguez] essentially said that she became frustrated with the child and strangled him.”
Liam had been reported missing on June 1 by his father, who had not heard from Rodriguez or Liam.
Rodriguez confessed to murdering and dumping Liam’s body shortly after becoming upset with him.
Police apprehended Rodriguez on June 8 in Denver. Rodriguez has an upcoming hearing scheduled for August 3.
