On Friday, police apprehended Robert Cotter, 18, who claimed to have witnessed his younger brother shoot his father before shooting himself.
According to Cotter, the incident at his family’s home had been a murder-suicide. His brother Brain Cotter, 15, had shot his father, Patrick Cotter, 53, before shooting himself.
Upon arriving at the scene, Patrick had been pronounced dead from a gunshot to the chest. On the other hand, Brain had been severely wounded and rushed to the hospital.
However, upon further investigation, police found little-to-no evidence that indicated the crime had been a murder-suicide. Shortly after, police confronted Cotter, to which he confessed to “planning and acting out the brutal murders,” says People News.
Cotter has been charged with two counts of murder; a potential motive has not been released.
