An Ogden woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the one-vehicle crash that killed her husband on July 4, according to authorities.
Jennie Ann Clark, 42, was arraigned in Ogden, NY and remanded to the Monroe County Jail in connection with the crash that killed 43-year-old Matthew Clark, according to Democrat & Chronicle News.
Clark is charged with second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, three counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, driving while intoxicated and several traffic infractions, according to police.
“Preliminary investigation has determined alcohol, unreasonable speed, and reckless driving as contributing factors to the collision.” Ogden police said in a press statement.
According to the Democrat & Chronicle, the couple was arguing as they sped down Colby Street in Ogden in the early hours of Sunday morning before the vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
Clark was westbound on Colby Street just after midnight, when she veered across oncoming traffic and into a utility pole, shearing off the pole. Part of the pole landed inside of the minivan, instantly killing Matthew Clark, who was the front-seat passenger, Ogden police reported to Democrat & Chronicle.
According to court documents, one of the couple’s three children recorded the argument on their cell phone.
The three children, all under the age of 16, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The children were not injured in the crash, according to Democrat & Chronicle.
