Forensic Files II – the renowned continuation to the cult-classic original series – premieres its second season this Sunday, July 11, 10-11 pm ET/PT.
In the latest season of the crime procedural Forensic Files II, audiences will be introduced to 14 brand-new mysteries in half-hour episodes. Fans of true crime will put their critical-thinking capabilities to the test, working to decipher clues and solve the mysteries that unfold episode by episode. Best of all, these back-to-back features will utilize the same format and content that long-time fans know and love and that newer audiences are also certain to enjoy.
The original Forensic Files series halted production back in 2011, to take a several-years-long hiatus, before returning on February 23, 2020. These new episodes retain the unique stylistic narrative choices of the original Forensic Files episodes, building upon the successful foundation of the first iteration. But the series does not shy away from incorporating advancements in investigative technology and production to create the optimal viewing experience. Forensic Files II is produced by HLN, with Nancy Duffy as executive producer, and airs exclusively on HLN. The series is now narrated by acclaimed film, stage, and television actor Bill Camp (Joker, News of the World, Queen’s Gambit, and The Night Of).
One of the first episodes in this new series titled “Ten of Hearts”, details the tragic and mysterious murder of Jody Loomis. The year is 1972 in the quiet, rural town of Snohomish, WA. This is where the Loomis family has made their home.
The oldest Loomis daughter, Jody, was a bright and energetic 20-year-old deeply devoted to helping others, and on her way to becoming a nurse. In her free time, Jody had a passion for all things related to horses, and it was this passion that she was following when she left her home one August afternoon.
Jody left that day intending to travel to the stable where her horse was kept. Normally Jody’s mother would drive her daughter, yet for some reason, Jody declined the offer. Instead, Jody opted to bike the six miles it would take to reach the stable. It was the first time she had ever attempted to bike the journey.
Unfortunately, it would also prove to be her last.
Jody was found just a few miles from her home, with a gunshot wound to her head.
The brutal slaying of such an innocent young girl sent shock waves through the small town. And a most pressing question weighed on their minds: who would do such a thing?
As the years pass, the investigation grows cold. A lack of hard evidence and no new leads makes it appear as though the case will never receive proper justice. That is until a new generation of investigators and modern technology breaks the case and finally puts a face to the killer.
Watch the second season premiere of Forensic Files II on Sunday, July 11, 10-11 pm ET/PT and look forward to the episode “Ten of Hearts” which will be airing Sunday, July 18, 10:30 pm ET/PT.
