A judge shot down Britney Spears’ request to have her father, Jamie Spears, removed from her conservatorship.
New court documents that were filed by the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, June 30, show that the judge has denied the request by Spears’ attorney, Samuel Ingham III, to remove her father Jamie as her sole conservator, according to Variety News.
“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” the court documents read.
According to Variety News, Samuel Ingham III had filed the request back in November of 2020 to remove Jamie as Britney’s sole conservator, stating that his client was “afraid of her father” and would refuse to perform again, if her father continued to be in charge of her career.
In Britney Spears’ statement to the court, she described her father as “abusive” and “a bully”.
“I shouldn’t be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide money and work for myself and pay other people,” Spears told Judge Brenda Penny. “It makes no sense.”
According to Fox News, Jamie Spears has been in control of his daughter’s $60 million fortune since 2007.
In her address to the court, Britney, 39, also accused her father of preventing her from removing a contraceptive device.
“I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby,” she told the court. “But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children – any more children.”
According to Variety News, Wednesday’s court filing states that the court found Spears to be “substantially unable to manage his or her financial resources or to resist fraud or undue influence.”
