Chicago, IL—On June 26, the body of Jeaneen Walters, 30, had been found in her apartment in the 700 block of East 79th Street. She had been found lying face down with a bullet in the back of her head. The autopsy conducted on Walter’s body concluded her death as a homicide.
Her boyfriend, Karim Hunter, 27, told police he had no involvement in her death. However, Hunter changed his stories numerous times, claiming she’d committed suicide.
According to investigators, Hunter later claimed that the pair had been arguing. While arguing, the gun had gone off “accidentally.” Walter’s cousin informed police that Walters had been unhappy in the relationship and planned to end it.
Hunter has a criminal background that includes convictions for burglary, home burglary, and armed robbery of a senior adult. He was sentenced to five years in prison, according to authorities.
At the moment, Hunter is charged with first-degree murder.
