A U.S. Army soldier from Naples was charged earlier this year with the murder of his wife. Spc. Paul Hernandez Perez allegedly killed his 25-year-old wife Selena Roth.
Hernandez Perez, 25, lived at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii with his wife. According to Hawaii News Now (HNN), Roth’s body was found in a trash can on Jan. 13 of this year by Military Police.
One of Roth’s family members asked for a welfare check shortly before her body was found.
NBC-2 reports the couple filed for divorce in October of last year and it was set to be finalized Jan. 20 of this year. They were only married one year at the time of her murder.
Hernandez Perez is set to be arraigned Thursday, June 17. NBC-2 reports he is “accused of bludgeoning and stabbing his wife.” He is charged with first-degree murder.
