A Monday shooting left three killed and three injured in an apparent murder-suicide.
NBC Miami reports the shooting occurred at an apartment complex near Homestead Air Reserve Base just before 2 a.m.
Police are saying the murder-suicide was a result of a domestic situation. The three injured victims are ages 18, 16, 11 with one in critical condition.
Miami-Dade police found the bodies of a 38-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy at the scene. NBC reports the shooter is a 42-year-old male, apparently the boyfriend of one of the victims.
He died by suicide near the scene as officers tried to negotiate with him.
This shooting is the latest in the Miami area after the recent mass shooting at a graduation party.
The shooting in Kendall, Florida left three people dead and five others injured.
In response to the recent string of mass shootings in Florida, Miami-Dade county mayor Daniella Levine Cava told CNN “This is a national phenomenon as we’re emerging from the pandemic. We are seeing an increase in gunshots, gun murders all across the country. Unfortunately, we’ve not been spared.”
As a result of the recent shootings, Florida authorities are increasing “surveillance, crime analysts, license plate readers and ‘other devices that allow us to analyze crime’.”
