Last week, a two-year-old shoots and injures both of his parents with a loaded gun.
West Bath, Maine—The shooting occurred on Wednesday morning when police received multiple reports of gunshots. According to Times Record, the mother, 22, was shot in her leg. The father, 25, was shot in the back of the head, and the two-year-old was injured in the process. Police believe that the gun was found on the nightstand, but how it was obtained remains questionable.
All three were taken to the hospital and reported non-life-threatening injuries.
Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry told WGME-TV, “The question of how the boy was able to pick up and fire the weapon is of great concern and is being investigated.”
The police urge anyone who owns a firearm to obtain a trigger lock and keep it in a safe location and out of reach of children.
