Glynn County, GA—On the morning of February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed by three Georgia men while on his morning jog.
Arbery, an unarmed black man, was only 25 years old when he was murdered, by Travis McMichael, age 35, his father Gregory McMichael, age 65, and William Bryan, age 51.
A video recording released from Bryan’s phone revealed the trio was driving in a truck with firearms hunting Arbery while yelling threats. At one point, it shows Bryan hitting Arbery with the truck.
According to CBS News, they were all charged with one interference with rights and one kidnapping attempt in the federal case. However, they pled not guilty to all charges held against them on Tuesday. The lawyer of the defendants argued, the trio acted in self-defense rather than an act against race.
