Police launch a murder investigation after the murder of a teenage boy was chased into a shop and fatally stabbed near Birmingham.
According to Sky News, police found the 17-year-old victim with knife wounds next to a white Ford Focus. The car crashed in a street in Smethwick, outside Birmingham, at 16:20 on May 1. Witnesses say the unnamed suspect followed the victim into a shop on Waterloo Road minutes earlier. Emergency services took the victim to hospital. However, he was pronounced dead an hour later.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of murder in the early hours of May 2. However, police are yet to release the name of either the victim or suspect. Also, CCTV shows several people fleeing the scene of the collision – police believe there are further suspects.
Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, said, “This is a tragic loss of a young life and my thoughts are with the boy’s family who are clearly devastated at what’s happened”. Currently, police continue their murder investigation, but are requesting any witnesses with footage from the scene to come forward.
