A mother and her young daughter were attacked in their Spokane home on April 11 by the mom’s ex-boyfriend who had been kicked out days earlier.
Kassie Dewey, 31, was found dead of stab wounds in her garage. Her five-year-old daughter Lilly was also found in the garage suffering from multiple stab wounds. Dewey’s ex-boyfriend, 41-year-old Joshua Phillips, who she had broken up with just two days earlier, was also found semi-conscious in the garage next to two running cars. Phillips had allegedly texted Dewey over 100 times the day before the attack.
Phillips was in custody while he was in hospital shortly and then booked Phillips into Spokane County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder with a $1.5 million bond.
Lilly remains in hospital in critical condition. According to updates on a GoFund me page set up for Lilly and Dewey’s two other children, she has undergone multiple surgeries and is “a trooper.”
