A 22-year-old man, Tyler Santiago, who police said shot another man in Hollywood, Florida, turned himself in to the police on April 9, 2021, one day after the shooting.
On Thursday, April 8th, around 6 a.m. neighbors called 911 when they heard gunshots ring out in their neighborhood. Officers surrounded the 8-unit, single-story apartment building, then evacuated its residents at around 6:30 a.m. Hollywood Police officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Hollywood Fire Rescue took the man to Memorial Regional Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, and he is in stable condition. Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated domestic incident according to a witness who claimed she heard arguing and what sounded like three gunshots.
Hollywood Police circulated Santiago’s photo on Thursday night and said the public should consider him armed and dangerous. About 24 hours later, he turned himself in. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held on bond for $50,000.
