Pennsylvania police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a woman to death over an argument about the price of a fridge.
Denise Williams, 54, was found dead on Tuesday. She had been reported missing by family on Monday after she went to buy a fridge from a man off Facebook marketplace.
Now, that man, 26-year-old Joshua Gorgone, has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He allegedly told police that he attacked Williams with a kitchen knife after an argument broke out regarding his asking price for the fridge.
“She did put up one heck of a fight,” said Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees.
Authorities believe that the victim and suspect did not know each other. They are now warning the public about the dangers of meeting strangers in person to make purchases.
“Use caution when you’re dealing with anybody or anything involving purchasing something through the internet, meeting up with someone,” District Attorney Greg Neugebauer said. “Don’t go alone. Don’t invite someone to your house alone to look at something. Always have someone with you or if possible, meet in a public or well-lit place.”
Gorgone is being held without bail.
