An Oklahoma pastor’s wife was arrested alongside the couple’s mutual lover and charged with murdering her husband in the first-degree.
David Evans, a pastor for Harmony Free Will Baptist church in Ada, Oklahoma, was on a missionary trip to Mexico in the weeks leading up to his death. During this time, the pastor’s wife, Kristie Evans, and their lover, Kahlil Square, planned out his murder.
According to an arrest affidavit, David and Kristie engaged in a threesome with Square several times at a local Super 8 motel. Then, the pastor’s wife began to have a secret relationship with Square and even told him that her husband was verbally abusive toward her. The affidavit stated that Kristie told Square that David said she was “fat, ugly and a whore.”
Around 1 am on March 22, Square allegedly entered the Evans residence and shot David while he was in bed asleep. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kristie called 911 and told authorities that she had been awakened by a popping sound and found her husband lying next to her, bleeding from a gunshot to the head.
However, Kristie then allegedly told her daughter that she’d “begged” Square to kill David and subsequently helped him to do the job. She told investigators that she even gave Square the pastor’s own handgun, a box of bullets and left the backdoor unlocked on March 21.
Neighbors provided investigators with surveillance footage showing Square’s white Ford Mustang at the Evans’ house on the night of David’s death. Square was able to flee the pastor’s home and was found in Newalla on Thursday night. He was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Detention center whereas Kristie is being held in the Pontotoc County Detention Center.
