Minnesota Man will Not Be Charged for Raping a Woman

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, drank five shots of vodka and took a prescription pill as she waited outside a bar in Minneapolis back during May 2017. A man approached her, inviting her and her friend to attend a party. The woman accepted his invitation and left with him. However, when she arrived a the scene of the “party” she was shocked to discover that no such event was set to that place.

The woman then recalls blacking out, only waking up awhile later on a couch. Upon regaining consciousness, she was faced with a horrifying reality-the realization that her companion was assaulting her

The Minnesota Supreme Court reached the decision that the crime of rape is not punishable when the victim is inebriated, as long as the victim voluntarily began drinking alcohol and was conscious of their decision to do so.
