Authorities in Virginia have taken a fourteen-year-old boy into custody for the murder of a thirteen-year-old girl.
Lucia Bremer was walking in her neighborhood in Henrico County with a friend on Friday when she was suddenly shot. She was transported to hospital where she passed away.
The alleged killer, who has not been identified due to his young age, was arrested on Saturday and charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm of a juvenile. He is eligible to be tried as an adult but prosecutors have not stated whether he will be or not.
The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed to the public.
Principal Melanie Phipps also added that “Talking to her didn’t feel like talking to a middle schooler. Lucia was exceptional; truly one-of-a-kind. She was brave, hardworking, and kind to everyone. Her smile would light up the entire room. In fact, her mother told me that Lucia’s name means ‘light,’ which is just the perfect way to describe her.”
Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call (804) 501-5794.
