It’s no secret that racism has been a hot topic of discussion in more recent times. With a new shooting or killing that seem to occur on a daily basis, there are more question than there are answers.
However, it’s important to trace our steps back and examine the “history” we were taught, over the history that really occurred. Once we do that it’s easy to see why such prejudice and violence has taken such a precedence during our era. The seeds for hate were planted long ago in forms of Human Zoo’s.
As outrageous as it sounds, it was not just a make-believe scenario on “Planet of the Apes” or “Fantastic Planet”. More disturbing is the fact that it wasn’t an intergalactic humanoid ape species or an alien race who enslaved indigenous peoples, it was other humans. Regular people like me or you, taken from our homes and put on display for the world to see. Becoming spectacles and less than human.

This documentary takes a heartbreaking and extremely horrifying look at the roots of these institutions and the invisible infrastructures they have left behind. In times like these it’s important more than ever to understand where it began so that we can start to find solutions.
