After arranging a Tinder date, an 18-year-old soldier from Edinburgh was allegedly kidnapped on March 20. Yesterday the family set up a GoFundMe to help with his recovery.
The Cobhan McLelland was abducted and held hostage after he left Dreghorn Barracks, Edinburgh, to meet a woman from Tinder. According to the Daily Record, another man allegedly assaulted the victim when he arrived at the address. The suspect then refused to let McLelland leave the property. he Scottish soldier faces severe burns, knife wounds to his face and body as well as broken bones. But, there is no information as to whether the suspect is connected with the alleged Tinder date.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence confirms that the teenager was taken to hospital after the incident. The victim does not suffer from life-threatening injuries. However, police have not confirmed how they discovered the victim was missing. According to the victim’s family, McLelland is ‘scared to close his eyes and sleep at night’ following the ordeal.
The McLelland family say that the victim ‘had his whole career ahead of him’, but now faces severe trauma. Scottish Police continue their investigation.
