Police in Altadena, California, received a 911 call on Monday from a woman who said she witnessed a man and a woman get kidnapped from their home while she was on a work-related Zoom call with the woman.
According to a press release, “detectives learned that the female victim was conducting a Zoom call with a colleague, when the attack on the male occurred. The Zoom caller witnessed the attack on both the male and female and called 911 to report the crime.”
When police arrived at the scene, they found Jenneth Preston, 69, dead in the driveway and Carol Brown, 67, dead inside the home. Both died of stab wounds. They have now been identified as siblings.
While deputies were investigating at the crime scene, a man named Robert Cotton, 32, drove up in one of the victim’s cars and claimed to be a resident of the home. He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of murder. He has now been identified as Brown’s son.
Police have not released the motive for the murders. Cotton is being held on $2 million bail.
