Police published further information concerning the massage parlour shooting in Atlanta on March 16. Police arrested and charged Robert Aaron Long, 21, for the murder of seven women and one man in massage parlours in Cherokee and Fulcon County.

According to Fox News, the suspect’s parents told police that he may be the shooter. Authorities quickly tracked Long after the shooting spree. According to police, Long’s parents were ‘Very distraught and were very helpful’. After his arrest, Long told police he was driving to Florida to shoot up a porn-related business.

Previous reports question whether there is any connection between all three shootings. However, with Long now in police custody, authorities confirmed that he committed all three attacks. Long remains in police custody in Crisp County, 150 miles south of Atlanta.

According to the suspect, he committed the crimes because he has a sex addiction. Long allegedly believed that the shootings would eliminate his temptation. Authorities stated that massage parlours are sometimes known to provide prostitution services, but there is no indication of this in all three locations. According to Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, the city will not engage in victim shaming or victim blaming.

However, the police continue to investigate whether the crimes have a racially motivation. Despite six of the victims being Asian women, Long denies any racial motivation.
