Police launched a murder investigation after a 16-year-old died in a takeaway in South Wales on March 5.
Officers named the victim of the attack in Rhondda Cynon Taf as Wenjing Xu. The attack occurred in a takeaway restaurant called Blue Sky. There are no details about the weapon used during the attack.
South Wales Police closed off Baglan Street, Treorchy at midday after the attack. According to the BBC, a witness saw an air ambulance arrive at the scene as well as three emergency ambulances.
Police arrested a 31-year-old, known to the victim, as well as a 38-year-old man in connection to the incident. Both suspects are in hospital after sustaining injuries during the incident. According to senior investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lewis, the police “are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”
In a tribute, her family called her “a very gentle soul.” Xu worked at her family-owned takeaway, whilst also going to school. Specially trained officers are caring for the girl’s family at the time.
There are no further details concerning the attack at this time, with the motive unclear.
