A man injured seven people in a knife attack in the south of Sweden on March 3.

At 15:00 in the centre of Vetlanda, a town in southern Sweden, a 22-year-old assailant stabbed multiple people. Witnesses said police arrested the suspect with a knife in hand. Seven are injured, with three being treated in a serious condition.

Police are treating the case as attempted murder. However, they have not ruled out a terrorist motive. According to Sky News, the suspect is an Afghan citizen.

Police shot the suspect in the leg, now he remains in a stable condition in hospital. The suspect is currently under questioning. According to the BBC, the police know the suspect well suspect because of various petty crimes in the past. Police raided the suspect’s apartment in Vetlanda, taking away evidence vital to the investigation.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said “the horrific violence was a reminder of how frail our safe existence is.” After the attack, there are extra police patrols in the area.
