Mary Knott, a 44-year-old veterinarian who competed in triathlons all around the world, was murdered on Feb. 13 by her 33-year-old ex-boyfriend, who then killed himself. Both bodies were found in an apartment in Carlsbad, California the next day.
Knott is being remembered for her athletic career. She competed in more than 20 Ironman competitions and competed in the fabled Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, where she finished in second place.
Her triathlon coach, Hillary Biscay, speaks about Knott and how she was an “incredible human.”
“Mary was everything from a lifeline to a major source of motivation and inspiration for her athletes — and likewise for her friends.”
