Police have arrested two men for allegedly posed as police officers and convincing a 78-year-old woman to let them into her home early Sunday morning. They then violently attacked her, leading to her death on Tuesday.
The victim, Usha Singh, was found badly injured in her Vancouver home by police on Sunday after a friend requested a wellness check.
The suspects’ motive for the crime is unclear. Police have not said whether the two knew Singh or not.
Vancouver Police Sgt. Steve Addison called the crime “tragic and senseless” and said it created fear and anxiety in the community.
“Vancouver is still a safe city, and thankfully incidents like this are rare,” said Addison. “We hope these arrests begin to restore a sense of calm and safety.”
