On New Year’s Eve, 23-year-old Christine Angelica Dacera checked into the City Garden Hotel in Makati, Manila. Dacera was looking forward to celebrating the new year with several of her friends and colleagues.
Around 10 am the next day fellow party-goer, Rommel Galida, awoke to find Dacera asleep in the empty hotel bathtub. Without disturbing Dacera, Galida brought her a blanket, and then he went back to sleep. When Galida woke again several hours later, he discovered Dacera was unresponsive. Rushed to Makati Hospital, Dacera was declared dead upon arrival.
Authorities await the results of a formal autopsy to determine Dacera’s true cause of death. However, due to unusual lacerations and contusions identified on the victim’s knees and thighs, investigators are considering foul play.
At this time, 11 men are provisionally charged with Dacera’s assault and murder.
According to Dacera’s Instagram account, she graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Mindanao. There she earned a BA in Communication Arts/ Major in Media Arts in 2017. During her career, Dacera worked as a flight attendant aboard Philippine Airlines. Additionally, she was a popular social media influencer on the platforms of Instagram and Tiktok. Christine Angelica Dacera is remembered for these accomplishments and more, may she fly high.
