Two siblings were fatally hit by a truck while playing miniature golf at a Florida course on Saturday.
The driver, identified as Scott Donaldson by the Panama City Beach police, veered off of the road near the Coconut Creek Family Fun Park and struck the siblings. The four-year-old boy died on the course while his six-year-old sister died after being rushed to the hospital.
According to a Panama City Beach spokeswoman, Debbie Ward, the siblings were visiting from Louisville, Kentucky. By Sunday, the victims’ names were still unreleased.
Charges against Donaldson remain pending while the crash is under investigation. Ward told WPSD Local 6 news via email that the family has had a great deal of support from Panama City Beach officials.
“This is a tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” Ward said. Since the siblings died, there have been “grief counselors and clergy with the family” and the Coconut Creek Golf and Maze respectfully closed their operations on Saturday.
