A man has been charged with the stabbing of Amethyst Killian, 22, and her unborn baby in O’Fallon, Mo.
Killian was reported missing Nov. 26 after going to the convenience store to buy cigarettes and never returning, according to News 19.
Damion Delgado has also been charged with armed criminal action and second-degree murder for the death of the unborn child, according to Fox 2 Now.
The next day, Killian’s father and boyfriend found her purse and clothes roughly 75 yards from her house. Police then found her body under some heavy brush and a knife nearby.
“It was a very violent, violent killing,” said Tim Lohmar, St. Charles Prosecuting attorney during an afternoon press briefing.
According to Lohmar, Killian was stabbed over 20 times in the head, neck and abdomen.
The motive at this time is unclear, but police believe this was a targeted murder.
“They had made a connection through an online website, exchanged numbers, and communicated throughout the evening. They agreed to meet up and their intention was to have consensual sex,” said Lohmar.
Officials were able to subpoena her phone records and connected her last communications to a man named Damian Delgado.
“There was an item left at the crime scene, that in a text exchange, the defendant indicated he had just stopped at a gas station and bought this item,” explained Lohmar.
Delgado is seen on surveillance cameras 10-15 minutes before he met up with Killian at a local gas station. The Department of Revenue records were compared to the surveillance and a positive ID was made, according to Fox 2 Now.
“I’m grateful for detectives and their hard work but still I have so many questions to be answered, ” said Killian’s mother Stacy Stelzer.
Stelzer says she is trying to figure out how to explain to her 6-year-old grandaughter Marley, and one-year-old grandson Hendrix, how their mom died.
A candlelight vigil will be held Saturday night at 6 pm at Old Town Park in St. Peters.
