Police have arrested another suspect for the murder of a Mormon family in Mexico. As of today, investigators have arrested 12 Mexican fugitives connected with the slaying of nine American women and children in Sonora, Mexico, on November 4, 2019.
The ten arrested for their involvement face charges, including illegal possession of weapons and organized crime, reports The New York Times. Mexican officials are now saying that the murders were a bad case of mistaken identity by Mexican cartels fighting for control of that region.
While Mexican officials haven’t charged the accused of murder, American authorities are working to bring those responsible for the murders to justice. This arrest is the latest update on the homicides that took place a year ago.
The investigation is ongoing.
