Two teens have been charged with murder after fatally shooting a 29-year-old man on Saturday. Merced police arrived at the 1200 block of Canal Street after receiving a report of shots fired in the residential area.
According to Merced Sun-Star, police saw a vehicle fleeing the scene moments after the unidentified suspect/suspects fatally shot the 29-year-old man. They immediately followed in pursuit of the suspicious car until 19-year-old Rafael Patino and Jossiah Quintero abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.
Officials arrested the two teen suspects and booked them into the Merced County Jail for charges of murder, illegal criminal gang activity, and possession of firearms, according to Your Central Valley.com. Police are currently holding both suspects with a $1.2 million bond.
Merced Sun-Star reports that this is the sixth homicide this year in Merced, California, and maybe gang-related. Police are asking anyone with information on the murder of the unidentified victim to contact Sgt.Solis at (209) 385-4703 or at email@example.com.
