Two teens have been charged with murder after fatally shooting a 29-year-old man on Saturday. Merced police arrived at the 1200 block of Canal Street after receiving a report of shots fired in the residential area.

Officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Although medical responders tried to save him, the man died on the scene from his deadly injuries.

According to Merced Sun-Star, police saw a vehicle fleeing the scene moments after the unidentified suspect/suspects fatally shot the 29-year-old man. They immediately followed in pursuit of the suspicious car until 19-year-old Rafael Patino and Jossiah Quintero abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.

Officials arrested the two teen suspects and booked them into the Merced County Jail for charges of murder, illegal criminal gang activity, and possession of firearms, according to Your Central Police are currently holding both suspects with a $1.2 million bond.
