LeBron James penned a devastating tweet on Wednesday regarding the recent murder of his best friend’s sister, Erica Weems.
James and Erica’s brother, Brandon, have been best friends since high school and James has referred to Weems as his “younger brother” in interviews. In his tweet, James addressed the city of Akron, Ohio and revealed that “my brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! My brother family need answers to why and by whom.”
Pleading for help and support, the basketball star continued: “My city I need ya’ll to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel! #Justice4EricaWeems”
According to News 5 Cleveland, Weems was slated to watch a friend’s child on Monday morning but had failed to show up. When family members went to check on her, they discovered dead in her bedroom around 3 p.m. on Monday.
