In an update to a previous article, Clarence Edward Martin has been charged for the death of his 2-month old, setting an apartment on fire, and death of the family dog.
Early Saturday after a domestic dispute Martin took his daughter from her mother’s arms and threw her from their second-story balcony. Neighbors then heard him saying he would start a fire in the apartment. 7 apartments were evacuated and when firefighters extinguished the blaze found the family’s poodle dead in its cage. Martin escaped in his Mercedes and was involved in a couple of car accidents before arriving at the McCarren International Airport. Martin attempted to enter the baggage conveyor but was spotted by an employee and arrested.
Martin now faces felony charges for open murder and first-degree arson. He also faces smaller charges for abuse on an animal, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and battery on a police officer.
