Donny Jackson, 40, was arrested in Oklahoma Saturday after a truck driver recognized his car from the Amber Alert over the two girls, according to New York Post.
“His two children were with him are safe,” OHP said on Facebook.
The rescue occurred just six hours after the alarm when relatives found the girls’ brothers bodies dead at the family home. The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the dad was the suspected killer.
Before the alarm, he was stopped for a routine traffic violation, but was allowed to carry on.
Officials have not detail how the boys were killed, or how long their bodies were there before being discovered.
“there had been some back and forth with family” and the investigators were “trying to determine what went on with the family dynamic that got us to this point,” said Maj. James Sherley of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department.
Jackson was in the middle of a divorce with estranged wife Tara, the mother of the four kids, according to the Kansas City Star.
Charges had yet to be filed against Jackson as of early Sunday.
