Calling all fans of saucy serial killers and blurred lines of morality — get ready to mark your calendars for fall 2021 because Dexter is coming back to Showtime.
Sure, there are a lot of things that we hope we can look forward to in 2021 (ya know, like the end of Covid-19), but now we can really rejoice in the fact that our favorite blood-spatter expert turned serial killer is returning for a limited-series revival!
Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as the complex anti-hero Dexter Morgan, and Clyde Phillips will return to his original position as showrunner extraordinaire. Although the show ran from 2006-2013, Phillips took a hiatus from being a writer, executive producer, and showrunner after Season 4.
While the finale of Season 8 saw Dexter having faked his own death and living with a new identity in Oregon, there are currently no details on where Hall’s Dexter will be in the reboot.
However, Gary Levine, Co-President of Entertainment at Showtime, stated that Showtime, “would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.” Thankfully, Levine has assured his future audience that Phillips and Hall have “found it.”
Filming is expected to start in early 2021, so keep your eyes peeled for the 10-episode project later next year!
