An elderly couple’s death was ruled a murder-suicide after they were reported missing Friday night.
Lee and Stella Vigil, originally from New Mexico, were found near the Santa Fe Trail in Colorado Springs. Lee, 73, and Stella, 72, died of gunshot wounds.
El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the bodies on October 5 and ruled Stella’s death a homicide and Lee’s a suicide.
Colorado Springs detectives announced that they found evidence to support an “agreement” that the couple would end their lives together. No further details about the alleged death pact between the couple nor the circumstances leading up to the shootings have been released at this time.
